Action 9: Company's promised swing set repair falls through cracks

CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — In Kimberly Rinner's garage is where she's been storing the canopy to her children's outdoor play set. She said she took it down after one of the canopy's metal poles came loose.

"If they're climbing up this rock wall, they would get hit in the head," she said.'

Rinner said a wooden board that supports the metal pole warped and needs to be replaced. It's covered under the warranty on the $2,000 swing set from Creative Playthings. But Rinner said when she complains to the company, she gets only promises.

"The regional manager promised me back in June that he would just take the pieces out of a brand new playset and come fix all of this for me. And that has not happened," she said.

When Action 9 contacted the store, the manager said all service calls are handled by the company's corporate office but could not explain why Rinner's repair fell through the cracks.

But after talking to the manager, an employee showed up at Rinner's home to replace the warped board.

With a new board to hold the metal pole in place, the employee reattached the canopy securely over the slide and rock wall. Then Rinner's 3-year-old son was able to test out the repaired swing set.

"Sad that I had to come to you, but I'm glad that you go this fixed," she said.
