Action 9: Repairs to roof lead to driveway crack

INDIAN TRAIL, N.C.,None — Mary Dubose is happy with her new roof, but not the big crack in her driveway. She said it was caused by a garbage bin her contractor used to haul off her old shingles.

"Terrible, just absolutely terrible," she said.

Dubose said Premier Contractors of Indian Trail told her in June they would repair the damage, but nothing has been fixed.

Her son, Steven, said he called Premier at least 20 times asking about the repair. After one of those calls, he said the owner called him back and left a message he would never forget.

"I just wanted to make sure you didn't think we dropped the ball," the message said.

After four months of waiting, Mary Dubose and her son are wondering if the work will ever be done. "I think they're trying to get out of fixing my mom's driveway," he said. "Something has to be done."

At Premier Contractors, the owner said the cracks were in the driveway before the dumpster was put there. But he said the company would make the repairs as a sign of good will.

Shortly after, a cement truck and a two-man crew showed up to repair the driveway.

"I think it's great," Mary Dubose said.
