CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A local woman spent hundreds of dollars on a Sears repair service to get her fridge fixed.

After several repair attempts and weeks of waiting for the repairman, she called Action 9 to get involved and get results.

Cynthia Holiday's refrigerator has not worked for nearly a month.

"I mean, trying to live without a refrigerator is difficult," said Holiday.

To get by, she is keeping the bare necessities in a cooler.

"Milk, creamer, we don't have a whole lot – just not enough room," said Holiday.

What upsets her is that she paid $274 for a Sears repair plan, only to have four different technicians order parts that did not work.

"This is the fan we needed the first time around," said Holiday.

Now that she has the part technicians think will work, Cynthia is upset that Sears could not schedule a repair for two weeks.

"You can't get through to a manager; you can't get the name of a manager. You are bounced around. You just get nowhere," said Holiday.

Action 9 went online to different consumer complaint websites and found similar stories about Sears' repair service.

One said they were very disappointed in Sears home repair, another called it a joke.

Action 9 got in touch with Sears and while they didn't address the online postings, it sent a technician back to work on Cynthia's refrigerator.

When it could not be fixed, Sears gave Holiday a $500 credit toward a new refrigerator and will switch over her repair plan.

"I know if it was not for you I would still be waiting, it still would not be resolved," she said.

If anyone has issues with a Sears repair, demand to talk to someone in their executive office.
