World-renowned chef Emeril Lagasse will soon open up a restaurant in uptown Charlotte at the Levine Center for the Arts campus.
Wells Fargo & Company announced Tuesday they will open a new phase of retail development at the campus. The Levine Center for the Arts campus is located in uptown Charlotte and includes the Mint Museum, Knight Theater and the Harvey Gantt Center for African American Arts and Culture.
Lagasse is a celebrated restaurateur, television personality and author, with 12 restaurants in New Orleans, Las Vegas, Orlando, Miami and Bethlehem, Pa.
He earned a degree from Johnson and Wales, which has a campus in Charlotte, and later received an honorary doctorate degree from the university.
Lagasse became a national TV personality appearing regularly on Food Network's "The Essence of Emeril" and "Emeril Live" and he is also the host of "Fresh Food Fast" on Cooking Channel and a food correspondent for "Good Morning America."
"I'm very happy to be working with our new partners at Wells Fargo and look forward to opening our first restaurant in Charlotte," said Emeril Lagasse. "The beautiful new campus is the perfect fit for our restaurant and we're excited to get started with plans and development for this premiere space."
Other tenants that will open business in the Levine Center for the Arts are:
• Q Sundries and Dry Cleaning – a convenience market already open on the lobby level in the Duke Energy Center.
• Energy Café – a quick-service healthy eating restaurant that will open its second Uptown Charlotte location during the second quarter of 2011.
• Mizan – a Mediterranean restaurant and lounge opening in the second quarter of 2011.
• Flex & Fit – a health and fitness club opening late in third quarter of 2011.
• Emzy Asian Sushi Bar – an Asian fusion/sushi restaurant opening in third quarter of 2011.
