In January 2011, Major League Lacrosse announced a league expansion for the 2012 season that included Columbus, OH and Charlotte, NC. The Charlotte Hounds began play in 2012 at historic American Legion Memorial Stadium.
The organization is dedicated to growing the sport of lacrosse in Charlotte and the Carolinas, as well as providing a unique sports environment that entertains and embraces fans.
Community Initiatives:
The Charlotte Hounds Foundation focuses on the implementation, development and growth of youth and community lacrosse programs to afford opportunities for players to learn, play and experience the sport of lacrosse, through:
- Distribution of information
- Support of existing and development of additional local and regional lacrosse programs and partnerships
- Instruction, training and education
- Public events
- Speaking engagements
- Community tournaments and other promotional and involvement campaigns
- Raising funds in order to pursue the foregoing purposes
