MOUNT HOLLY, N.C.,None — Two factories in Gaston County will start hiring hundreds of workers in just a few weeks to meet increased demand.
Daimler Trucks said Monday it will hire more than 400 employees at its Freightliner Manufacturing Plant in Mount Holly and nearly 150 workers at its parts plant in Gastonia.
That Freightliner plant in Mount Holly celebrated last month, when the 1,000th hybrid truck rolled off the assembly line.
The positions added are in addition to laid-off workers who were recently recalled to their jobs.
Daimler said orders have increased and it called Monday's announcement "a significant step in the recovery of the economy."
