Davidson native Hayes Grier's time on the dance floor has come to an end.
The 15-year-old was the latest star eliminated on "Dancing with the Stars" Monday night.
His elimination came as a surprise to his professional partner, Emma Slater, and his fellow competitors.
He had solid scores, but it wasn't enough to keep him in the competition.
In the few seconds he had to offer his thoughts, he praised the other dancers and shared what the show meant to him.
"All those guys, they're brilliant people, and this has meant so much to me and a really life-changing event," Grier said.
His fellow dancers sent him tweets saying they thought he was great and they'd miss him, and his family also tweeted their support.
The competition, now down to seven couples, returns at 8 p.m. Monday on ABC/WSOC-TV.
