LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C.,None — A Lincoln County man stuck a video camera in his shoe to record images up women's dresses, according to detectives.
The Denver man was charged with secret peeping Friday.
Carl John "Shane" Kistel III, of 2379 Smith Cove Road, Denver, inserted the camera into a cutout in his shoe, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. He then recorded images up women's dresses as he entered businesses in Mecklenburg and Lincoln counties.
A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer met with Lincoln County detectives on Aug. 30. The officer turned over a flash drive with videos from businesses in and around Lincoln County, according to a press release.
Deputies executed a search warrant at Kistel's residence and seized computer equipment along with hundreds of CDs and DVDs.
Kistel was charged with felony secret peeping and possession of images he knew was taken illegally.
He was released from the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $24,000 secured bond.
A domestic violence protection order was issued against Kistel requiring him to stay away from his Denver residence and his wife and children.
Kistel is a pharmaceutical salesman and assisted with the East Lincoln Optimist Club programs.
More charges could come once the CDs and DVDs are reviewed, according to Lt. Tim Johnson with Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.
"We have to do all we can to protect citizens of Lincoln and surrounding counties from this type activity," said Johnson.
