CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The eighth edition of "The Bachelorette," which features Charlotte resident Emily Maynard, will premiere on May 14.
Maynard, 26, was a fan favorite when she appeared on the 15th season of "The Bachelor." She accepted a proposal from Brad Womack, but their relationship later ended.
Maynard was previously engaged to NASCAR driver and team owner Ricky Hendrick, who died in a plane crash in 2004. Maynard was pregnant with their daughter at the time, and is now a single mother to 6-year-old Ricki.
Maynard, who is originally from Morgantown, W.V., now resides in Charlotte. She is a full-time mother and has volunteered with the Hendrick Marrow program, Levine Children's Hospital and the lunch buddy program at Hidden Valley Middle School.
