CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Flames shot through the roof of a home on Wallace Cabin Drive in east Charlotte on Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the fire in the 5700 block just before 2 p.m. The fire was just off W.T. Harris Boulevard.

They were able to circle the area with water inside and out and were able to keep the flames from spreading which was a big concern for neighbors where the homes are very close together.

There was some damage to Caberra’s house on the right hand side melting some siding but fire crews were able to keep the flames from spreading any farther.

“I smelled smoke,” said Kevin Caberra. “I had my windows open so I just came outside and saw all the fire departments coming. So, it was just a good thing they showed up when they did.”

No one was home when the fire broke out.

The fire is under investigation.
