CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — A storm system brought the heaviest rain into the Charlotte area Saturday in more than two weeks.
The showers began in upstate South Carolina before noon and slowly worked northward into Charlotte.
Channel 9 meteorologist Katie Virtue said there will be periods of steady rain continuing through Saturday evening.
The rain will taper off early Sunday, which will allow the weekend to end dry, under cloudy skies.
Rainfall will average about one inch by early Sunday.
Runoff may cause water to pond on area roadways, but meteorologists said they are not forecasting any major flooding.
