Huntersville company creates new water bottling system

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C.,None — A Huntersville company is hoping a defense contract will help them hire dozens of people.

Clearwater Manufacturing created a new water bottling system called the Boomerang.

The Boomerang is about the size of a hotel ice-maker and can sanitize, filter, fill and cap 2,000 water bottles per day.

The idea came from a government mandate for the military to be more environmentally friendly.

"We sat down with a notebook and started making sketches and thought about ways we could reuse a bottle, either aluminum or glass," said Dan Cedrone with Boomerang Water.

The company said a military contract would let them hire 50 employees.

They also hope to market the machine to college campuses.
