CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C.,None — Eyewitness News has learned a teacher charged with having sexual contact with two former students in Cabarrus County has also taught in three other counties in less than a decade.
Christopher White, 36, made his first appearance in court Tuesday. He is charged with having inappropriate physical contact with two teenage students while he was a teacher at Concord High School years ago.
The accusers, now adults, came forward last month.
Currently, White works as a Latin teacher at Back Creek Christian Academy, where he is on administrative leave.
In court Tuesday, a judge ordered White back to court for a probable cause hearing in December. Eyewitness News reporter Tenikka Smith asked White if he wanted to respond to the allegations against him, but his attorney said they had no comment.
White, joined by two women, dodged Channel 9's camera as he made his way out of the Cabarrus County courthouse.
White taught social studies at Concord High School from August 2004 until June 2005.
He went on to teach history at McDowell High School in McDowell County from August 2005 through May 2006.
Employment records show he taught social studies at Sun Valley Middle School in Union County from August 2008 until June 2010.
School leaders at Back Creek Christian Academy in Charlotte would not provide any details on how long he has worked there.
Eyewitness News asked each school district if any complaints or reports were ever filed against White during his employment. Union, Cabarrus and McDowell county schools said no. The head of Back Creek Christian Academy said she could not comment on any personnel issues.
White's name has been removed from Back Creek's website since Monday.
Concord police confirmed to Eyewitness News that investigators have reached out to all of the schools. Detectives are digging deeper into White's past and casting a wide net to see if any more accusers will come forward.
