1 person injured in north Charlotte shooting

CHARLOTTE — One person was injured in a shooting in north Charlotte early Sunday morning.

Just before 1 a.m., officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the scene on Hackberry Creek Trail.

When officials arrived, they found one person had sustained a gunshot wound. MEDIC said the patient was sent to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

The initial investigation led officers to a nearby apartment where they recovered a firearm and took 26-year-old Tenaia Money Boyles into custody. She has been charged with shooting into occupied property involving serious injury and injury to personal property.

With the help of the CMPD K-9 Unit, officers were also alerted to a nearby vehicle, indicating the presence of gunpowder residue. Deonte Lindsey, 30, who lived in the apartment complex, identified himself as the owner. Inside the vehicle, police found several jars of marijuana and a significant amount of cash. He was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana.
