CHARLOTTE — A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a school bus Friday morning on Interstate 485 in northeast Charlotte, troopers said.
It happened around 7 a.m. on the outer loop approaching Harrisburg Road.
Troopers say the motorcyclist attempted to pass a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools bus, clipped the back corner and was ejected from the motorcycle.
Troopers say no students were on board at the time of the crash, and the bus driver was not hurt.
MEDIC said one person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries where they later died.
The crash also caused some heavy delays for drivers during the morning commute.
