CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was seriously wounded in a shooting on North Tryon Street on Monday afternoon, police said.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, a man was shot at least once in the lower abdomen. The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m.
Police said the victim was standing with a woman and another man near a convenience store on North Tryon Street north of uptown Charlotte.
He was shot in the stomach by the second man in the group, who then fled the scene in a brown four-door sedan driven by the woman up Dalton Avenue toward Statesville Road, police said.
Police said they have not yet been able to identify the victim.
According to police and Medic, the man’s injuries are considered life-threatening. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment.
Police said they have not yet captured the man and woman.
The shooting was not random and stemmed from a prior relationship between the three people, police said.
As of 4:20 p.m., the victim was in stable condition and heading to surgery at CMC.
