CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — Daniel Calloway will not face charges in a shooting in Caldwell County.

Investigators said the 40-year-old acted in self-defense on Feb. 8.

Deputies were called to a home on Remont Drive in Sawmills just after 1:30 p.m. and found 31-year-old Daniel Wright suffering from a gunshot wound.

Authorities said the homeowner, Calloway, shot Wright, who had been living temporarily at the house.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The district attorney said Wright attacked Calloway before the shooting.
