GAFFNEY, S.C. — A Gaffney High School student was shot and killed while boarding a school bus Wednesday morning, the Cherokee County coroner said.
The county coroner identified the victim as 17-year-old Jomiltron Sentell Fair Jr.
Officials say it happened around 6:50 a.m. along West Rutledge Avenue in Gaffney.
According to a release from the coroner’s office, Fair walked across the street from his apartment to get on the bus when a male subject came up to him. After a short altercation, officials say Fair was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.
Surveillance video from the bus shows the shooter get into a waiting vehicle driven by another person after the shooting.
The coroner said 15 students were also on board and witnessed the shooting.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
Channel 9 is asking if authorities have any leads on the suspects.
