CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Police say they are still looking for the person who fired a gun at a teenager's car.
The young woman told police she was turning from Lancaster Highway onto Providence Road West in Ballantyne when the shot shattered her rear window and left a hole in her windshield.
"I'm glad it didn't hit me. I'm lucky. Thank God it didn't," said 18-year-old Yazmeen Rigaud.
Rigaud said she was just driving home from work when she heard the glass from her back window shatter.
She thought something had fallen on her car.
She pulled over to call her dad and saw there was a bullet hole in her windshield.
"I was like a bullet went through my car," she said.
"The next thing I know she called the cops, CSI came and they told me it was a high powered rifle," said Marlon Rigaud, her father.
Yazmeen said she never even saw a gun, never heard a gunshot or felt the bullet fly past.
She has no idea where it came from.
Her father said he doesn't think she was targeted. He thinks it may have been a stray bullet from a carelessly fired gun.
"I'm just glad she's ok," he said.
He hopes this makes people think and be more careful.
Yazmeen said it was a wake up call for her as well. She is very thankful she's ok.
"When I was falling asleep last night I was like wow if I had been leaning over messing with my radio that could have hit me in the face. That would have been it," said Yazmeen.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
