Investigators said two men used American Airlines employees to trick an insurance company out of nearly $17 million.

Prosecutors said the men filed insurance claims for hearing aids for employees, but they never got them, according to reports.

Terry and Rocky Anderson were a father and son team and sold eyeglasses and hearing aids.

Investigators said the men targeted American Airlines workers because the airline's insurance plan was extremely generous.

Prosecutors said the men offered the employees high-end sunglasses and free prescription eyeglasses to take hearing tests.

The men allegedly told them they had slight-to-mild hearing loss, and submitted insurance claims for them, sometimes close to $14,000 each.

The hearing aids were not needed and in many cases not delivered, prosecutors said.

The allegedly fraudulent claims totaled $16.7 million over six years, according to the indictment,.

Prosecutors also accuse the two defendants of a cover-up, saying they falsified patient records and forged patient signatures.

National reports said each defendant faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
