2 arrested on drug charges in Yadkin Co.

YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. — Officials with the Yadkin County Sheriff's Office arrested two suspects believed to be using a stolen prescription pad from a medical center in Huntersville to obtain the drug oxycodone.

The officials began their investigation back in March, when they received information that the suspects were obtaining multiple prescriptions from several pharmacies in North Carolina. The investigation included infiltrating the ring of suspects.

Detectives searched a mobile home on Cleary Road in Yadkin County and found several used needles and syringes, along with many other forms of drug paraphernalia. Also during the investigation, the detectives recovered several fraudulent prescriptions, one at a pharmacy in Yadkinville. That prescription had been recognized as being fraudulent by one of the pharmacists and was not filled.

The suspects would use several different names and would drop off the prescriptions and then return later with a fraudulent ID or use their real names in some cases to pick up the medications.

Incarcerated is Randall Darron Pruitt, 22, of Yadkinville. Pruitt is charged with obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and trafficking in opiates by possession. He is being held in the Yadkin County Jail under a $15,000 bond.

Lelia Gene Settle, 37, of Yadkinville, was arrested. Settle is charged with two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a schedule II controlled substance, two counts of sell and deliver a controlled substance, obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and trafficking in opiates by possession.

Other suspects have been arrested in Statesville and Elkin. A Sheriff's Office spokesperson states that more suspects and/or more charges could be pending in other jurisdictions. Those cities include Huntersville, North Wilkesboro, Mocksville, Statesville and Elkin.

The investigation included the Yadkin County Sheriff's Office, Wilkes County Sheriff's Office, Yadkinville Police Department, Elkin Police Department, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
