CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — Two people, including a suspect, died and a third person was hospitalized following a shooting near Mays Drive in the Edgemoor community early Thursday morning, the Chester County Sheriff’s Office stated in a social media post.
Chester County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene around 12:30 a.m. Thursday after receiving reports of gunfire. When deputies arrived, they found three people suffering from gunshot wounds.
Two of the victims, including the person identified as the suspect, died from their injuries sustained during the shooting. Paramedics transported the third victim to a hospital for further treatment.
Preliminary evidence indicates the shooting stemmed from an altercation between the suspect and the other victims. Authorities have not yet publicly released the identities of those involved and the exact nature of the initial argument remains under investigation.
Investigators with the Chester County Sheriff’s Office are actively working the case as the investigation continues.
