Matthews company CEO, another killed in plane crash

MCCLELLANVILLE, S.C. — A deadly plane crash in Charleston County,  S.C., killed the CEO of a Mecklenburg County company.

Deputies said the plane came down in an old rice field near the Intracoastal Waterway near McClellanville around 5 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities confirmed the two men on board the twin-engine plane were Patrick Eudy and Robert Ulrich. Eudy headed American Broadband, a telecommunications business in Matthews.

Eudy was trying to get re-certified as a pilot.

Witnesses described hearing what sounded like engine trouble with the plane before the crash.
