CHARLOTTE — Two people were hurt in a northwest Charlotte shooting Thursday morning. Police are now saying the incident began as a domestic dispute.
It happened around 6:15 a.m. at an apartment complex along Free Creek Lane.
Police confirmed three people were involved, and they have all been accounted for. They say one person was shot and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. A second person was also hurt.
Channel 9’s Miana Massey spoke to residents of the neighborhood who say the violence so close to their homes has left them questioning their safety.
“It’s really scary,” neighbor Lucy Eagletreck said. “There’s a lot of kids in this neighborhood. It’s disheartening because it could be anyone.”
Another resident, Lexus Kennedy, is debating whether it’s worth it to continue to staying there.
“It’s just like why would I live here any longer if something like this is happening to where I lay my head at night?” she said. “A bullet doesn’t have anyone’s name on it.”
Witnesses say they saw officers take a man into custody Friday morning.
Channel 9 is asking the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for more information about what led up to the shooting and if that man will face any charges.
