HAVELOCK, N.C. — A 2-year-old is expected to be OK after a firefighter rescued him from his burning home.

The home was fully engulfed in flames.

The fire happened Tuesday at a home in Havelock, which is just south of New Bern.

Firefighters searched feverishly for the child.

They said his cries ultimately helped them find him.

"After looking for a couple minutes, they said they could hear crying from another bedroom.  So, I had to leave that bedroom out the window and then go in another window in order to try and find him.  When I was in that room is when I actually found him. He was in the corner," said firefighter Charles Winter.

The victim's brother was also inside when the fire started, but his father was able to get him to safety.
