The project will combine a client engagement and experience center with corporate workspace for 200 employees, adding to Charlotte’s large financial services sector.
The average annual salary will be $162,322, which exceeds the Mecklenburg County average of $90,706
The Clearing House operates critical U.S. payment infrastructure, clearing and settling more than $2 trillion each business day through wire, ACH, real-time payment and check-image exchange services, according to a news release by the governor.
Founded in 1853, the company already has a North Carolina presence through an operations center in Winston-Salem that opened in 2007. The Charlotte expansion is intended to support the company’s long-term growth, client engagement, operational resilience and employee experience.
The project adds to recent economic development in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. Over the past 12 months, the city and county have partnered on projects expected to create an estimated 5,172 jobs and generate more than $563.7 million in capital investment. Those projects include investments from Scout Motors, Maersk and SMBC Group.
The City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County partnered with the North Carolina Department of Commerce, North Carolina General Assembly, Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina and North Carolina Community College System on The Clearing House project.
