Inmates injured in fight at Lanesboro Correctional Institution

POLKTON, N.C. — Four inmates were treated for minor injuries after a disturbance Friday at Lanesboro Correctional Institution.

A fight among inmates erupted in a dining hall at lunchtime and correctional officers brought the situation under control and returned inmates to their cellblocks, Department of Public Safety officials said in a news release.

A short time later, fighting among other inmates began in one cellblock and resulted in four inmates who received minor injuries.

The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Polkton Police Department in investigating the incidents.

Three inmates are being treated at a local hospital and one by prison medical staff, officials said.
