CHARLOTTE — An acclaimed local chef has a new concept in the works for an uptown Charlotte landmark that’s undergoing a significant renovation.
Sam Hart, the James Beard Award finalist behind innovative restaurants Counter- and Biblio, plans to open a food stall called Maneki at The Alley at Latta Arcade early next year.

A website for the new venture — which indicates it’s the property of Irreverently Refined Hospitality LLC, a newly formed limited liability company that lists Hart as a member — says it will serve up local meat and seafood grilled in traditional, Hokkaido Japanese methods.
