CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A new homeowner said water just spews into his yard after a contractor broke two of his sprinklers.
The contractor admitted to the mistake, but the two could not agree on repair costs.
"Turning my irrigation system on," said Mark Leggett, but when he turns on his irrigation system, the water gurgles out and just runs across the ground.
"It is broken, it bubbles water and runs to the side," said Leggett.
He said two of his sprinkler heads were broken by a contractor landscaping the yard of his new house for Builder Livewell Homes.
Leggett said Livewell admitted the mistake and promised to pay for the repairs.
"Whatever we needed to be done, they would do it. That is what they told me," said Leggett.
However, Leggett said Livewell then told him they could fix it themselves for around $100 as opposed to much higher prices he was quoted. He refused the offer and told Action 9 why.
"There is no future guarantee with it and what happens if they do not fix the system, and that is my only problem," said Leggett.
So Leggett asked Action 9 to talk to Livewell homes.
A manager said if Leggett gave him two bids he would consider paying the lowest one. Livewell then sent Leggett a $350 check for the lower of two bids.
Leggett, who is trying to establish a green law, said he can finally get his sprinkler working again.
"It makes me feel good. It is finally taken care of and I appreciate all your hard work on this," he said.
