STATESVILLE, N.C. — A Statesville woman said a gas station sold her contaminated gas. She said the station wouldn't pick up the tab to have her car fixed, until she turned to Action 9’s Don Griffin for help.

Rachel Mills' car has been in the repair shop four days, after she got a tank full of contaminated gas.

"My car just quit on me, wouldn't start back up," Mills said.

Mills said the station told her they'd take care of everything, and had her car and others towed to this repair shop.

The gas came from this quality mart shell station in Statesville.

But now that hers is ready to be picked up, the station told Mills she has to pay the $415 repair bill and wait to be reimbursed.

"I don't feel like it’s right,” Mills said. “We was told that they'd take care of it and what's should be happening.”

Action 9 went to the station to ask about Mills’ complaint and found the manager waiting in line to buy gas.

"Our home office in Winston-Salem is handling that,” the manager said.

When the Winston-Salem office didn't return Action 9’s calls, we called Shell Oil in Houston.

A spokesperson told Action 9 their distributor was approving repairs “directly with mechanic shops to avoid out-of-pocket expense.”

Two days later, Mills was back driving after picking up her car and having the station cover her repair bill.
