In a statement, the airline said Charlotte will be “one of the top hubs where flight attendants will be based.”
Fort Worth, Texas-based American already ranks among Charlotte’s largest employers with 16,500 crew members, mechanics and customer service across the region. Flight attendants account for 20%, or 3,300, of the 16,500 employees who live here.
Applications for the jobs are open now through Oct. 18. An FAQ on the company’s website explains the requirements, pay and benefits, including estimated trainee starting pay of $34,000 annually. That’s based on a guaranteed minimum of 75 flight hours per month. The jobs include health benefits, per diems and possible incentives.
“As American continues its focus on enhancing the premium experience for customers, improving the candidate experience is one of the many ways we’re ensuring our people are equally committed and prepared to care for people on life’s journey,” said Cole Brown, American’s chief people officer. “We want the process to mirror the hospitality and service our customers should expect when they travel with us.”
