CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Another South End staple will be closing for good this weekend.
Amos’ Southend, a popular bar and music venue, will have its final show on Sunday after nearly 30 years in business. The final show will feature several bands starting at 4 p.m. Sunday.
The owner, John Ellison, announced the decision to close last year. He said business and retail growth in the South End have made it hard to keep the venue successful.
It released renderings that show the Gin Mill will add a kitchen, rooftop patio and back patio.
The Gin Mill, which is located next to Amos’, announced in February it will take over the location on South Tryon Street.
Construction will begin in mid-March.
