CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Animal Control officers caught a canine Monday that had been on the run since early December with a 6-foot pole around its neck.

The dog escaped when Animal Control officers previously tried to catch it with the pole, and was on the loose for almost two weeks near a southwest Charlotte neighborhood.

Animal Control officers in Charlotte, North Carolina, caught the dog that had been on the run since early December with a 6-foot pole around its neck.

Animal Control officials said they had teams of three to five officers looking for the dog for 20 hours a day, and even tried using tranquilizer darts on it, which didn’t take effect until the dog ran back into the woods.

On Monday, officials said the dog was captured using a trap and transported to the Animal Care and Control shelter, where it’s being held as a stray.
