Annual Keep Pounding 5K held in Uptown

CHARLOTTE — More than 2,000 runners poured into Bank of America Stadium Sunday to fight cancer.

The Atrium Health Foundation’s 16th Annual Keep Pounding 5K began around 8 a.m.

Runners started at the Levine Cancer Institute on Morehead Medical Drive, then made their way to the stadium.

Money raised from the race helps fund cancer research.

It started in honor of Former Carolina Panther Sam Mills who lost his battle with cancer back in 2005.
