CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A former Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools employee who spent close to a decade working in the same building as 11 other employees who have been diagnosed with cancer, says she has cancer now too.
For months, Channel 9 anchor Allison Latos has been investigating complaints from current and former employees at CMS’ Smith Family Center who are now fighting cancer.

In January, doctors discovered a rare tumor in Olshausen’s face, making her the 12th current or former employee who worked at the building to be diagnosed with cancer.
Channel 9 discovered CMS moved more than 100 employees out of the building in March after many voiced serious concerns about their health and fears the building could be the cause of their problems.
Ynez Olshausen worked for CMS for 20 years. She was principal at the building off Tyvola Road for nine years when it was known as Smith Academy of International Languages.
