MAIDEN, N.C. — Apple has spent nearly $3 million to purchase more than 200 acres of land in Catawba County to expand its Maiden data center, the Hickory Daily Record reported.
The California-based company purchased the land, located in Conover, from another solar farm.
Apple has said it wants the Maiden data center to run on 100 percent renewable energy by the end of the year.
Apple said with the two solar farms it will be the largest non-utility installation in the country.
