Legrand will replace current principal Susan Wills, who announced her retirement Aug. 12.
She faced controversy after a student painted the school’s spirit rock to honor late conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The school painted over it, saying the display was unauthorized.
The student later sued the district and reached a settlement.
Wills’ last day at Ardrey Kell will be Oct. 31.
Legrand will become the school’s third principal in recent years as Ardrey Kell continues a period of leadership transition.
