MORGANTON, N.C. — Morganton Public Safety says it has made an arrest after an alleged incident at a bus stop involving a handgun.
They have charged Shatney Jones with assault by pointing a gun and communicating threats. Police told Channel 9’s Dave Faherty, “According to the reporting party, a male driving a white sport utility vehicle pulled out a firearm in a threatening manner while the caller was at his child’s bus stop.”
Court documents say Jones also threatened to kill the person while pointing the firearm. The incident was in the 400 block of North Green Street on Thursday.
The Police Chief says there were two children at the bus stop on North Green Street for Walter Johnson Middle School.
The School District says it is working with police and told us the bus wasn’t at the stop when the alleged incident happened.
