ASU chancellor announces plans to step down

BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University Chancellor Kenneth Peacock announced his intention to step down from the office.

In a letter, he stated, “This is a difficult decision for me, but I believe it is the right time for Appalachian, and more importantly, the right time to make this change for my family.”

Peacock plans to stay on as chancellor until a successor is appointed.

Peacock has worked at ASU since 1983, starting as faculty in the Department of Accounting. He was appointed ASU’s sixth chancellor in 2004.
