LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — Lincoln County sheriff's detectives are looking for a Catawba County man accused of shooting at a vehicle while a woman was inside. Officials said Bobby Fish Jr. should be considered armed and dangerous.

Authorities said the victim told them that when she went to buy gas Wednesday night in Vale, she noticed a man staring at her.

She left the gas station but said the man, who deputies have identified as Fish, followed her onto Highway 274.

Eventually, the truck passed her and she said Fish fired a shot at her.

Joe Heavner lives on the stretch of the road where the shots were fired. There are also small children here and he worries someone could have been shot.

“It could have happened to my wife or my kids,” he said.

No one was hurt. The woman pulled into a family's driveway in Cherryville.

Police said Fish and another car pulled in behind her.

"Some girl that just pulled in our driveway and said that this guy is shooting a gun at her. My husband got his gun and just held it up to the door and told him to get out of our driveway,” a caller said during a 911 call.

Police said Fish took off waited up the street, and then left.

Investigators said they found Fish’s truck but did not find Fish. Two women, who were not related to the crime, were in the truck. Officials said Fish switched vehicles and kept going.

"We need to make sure and get him off the street,” Capt. Tim Johnson with Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators still have questions about the shooting, but right now they are focused on finding Fish.

They have some leads, but they are looking for more help.
