CORNELIUS, N.C. — There are four more days to vote for Channel 9’s Big 22 Player of the Year.
And our next finalist plays for the top team in the state: Hough’s Davion Jones. He’s been locking down receivers all season for the Huskies.
Hough is giving up just 8 points a game while playing a tough schedule, and Jones says he and the team
“I don’t really care for the outside noise; I just know what I do when I get on the field and people love it. Once that week goes by, it’s on to the next week, and I feel like that’s what the team has done—a really good job of just moving on to the next week starting 0-0,” Jones said.
This season, Jones moved from safety to boundary corner. It’s a challenge he’s taking on with pride.
“It’s in me. That’s just what I do—to not be cocky or anything, but like, that’s just who I am. It’s a ton of fun; that’s where I get to really showcase what I can really do on an island by myself with no help,” Jones said.
Voting for our Player of the Year ends next Monday at 10 a.m.
