A crafty quarterback in Lake Norman is getting attention from some of the country’s football powerhouses.
Our next Big 22 player to watch may have one of the biggest arms in the state. Lake Norman quarterback Kaden Craft has been the starting quarterback since his freshman year, and he’s turning heads as a junior.
He’s a top 10 quarterback nationally in the Class of 2028 with a laundry list of heavy hitters handing out scholarship offers: Miami, Michigan, LSU, North Carolina, Ole Miss, and Oregon are among those trying to get Craft onto their campuses.
Craft took over the starting role as a freshman after the original starter got injured. Craft led the offense to 22 fourth-quarter points in a comeback win, and the rest is history.
“It was only a matter of time before I took that varsity role, I just had to wait for the opportunity,” Craft said. “It was all just preparation for the opportunity when the opportunity came, I took advantage of it.”
He’s been ready for the pressure. He’s played football since he was 6, along with just about every other sport, from BMX to wrestling to track and field -- all activities that breed pressure.
“Knowing that it’s up to you; you have to put the work in to prove yourself right and it’s 1v1 out there, you don’t have a team behind your back, so I think it helps,” Craft said.
