Channel 9’s Big 22 Player to Watch has a fastball on the football field, but it may not even compare to the fastball he has on the baseball diamond.

Marvin Ridge quarterback Levi Kerr has quite the resume, even though he’s just a junior.
First, on the football field, he is as talented a signal-caller as there is in the state. He’s the top-ranked quarterback in North Carolina in the Class of 2028, and it’s easy to see why. The ball just pops out of his hand. But he’s also one of the top baseball players in the country, with a fastball that reaches the 90s. For Kerr, there’s something special and relatable about playing quarterback and pitching.
“You’re controlling the game. The quarterback touches the ball every play, just like the pitcher has to throw the pitch every time. It’s kind of the same. I like being the guy, so that’s how it’s always been for me,” Kerr said.
While football has the potential to take Kerr places, baseball has already taken him across the world. He’s been a member of USA Baseball’s national team for years. In fact, he helped the 12U team go undefeated and win a gold medal in Taiwan. He threw a one-hitter in the quarterfinals and picked up the save in the semifinals two days later. So, he already has experience in high-pressure moments.
“They gave me the ball to close it out, so I thought that was a pretty cool honor that they trusted me enough to put me in front of those fans,” he said. “If you can play in front of that many people at 12 years old, I feel like you can do a lot of stuff.”
