CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mecklenburg County Commissioners voted to give an outlet mall developer a tax refund.
Tanger Outlets and Simon Property Group said they need a 45 percent tax increment grant to make infrastructure improvements in the Steele Creek area.
On Tuesday night, the board approved the request capping the refund at about $6 million.
Commissioners said the incentive will help create new jobs.
The city has to approve the request as well.
