CHINA GROVE, N.C. — Emergency responders are actively investigating a reported bomb threat at the Macy’s Distribution Center in China Grove, officials with Rowan County Emergency Services said on Wednesday morning.
Regional bomb squads and explosive detection K-9 teams have responded to the scene to search the property.
Public safety officials distributed emergency notification messages to residents, businesses and facilities within a half-mile radius of the distribution center as a precaution. No evacuation order has been issued.
Multiple regional agencies are providing specialized assistance on scene, including bomb squads and explosive detection K-9 teams from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Guilford County, Piedmont Triad, Cabarrus County and Rowan County.
Public safety officials and emergency management personnel are actively coordinating with the Rowan-Salisbury School System regarding nearby Carson High School to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Authorities urged individuals in the alert zone to remain alert, monitor official public safety communications, and avoid calling 911 for information updates unless experiencing an active emergency.
The investigation remains ongoing and public safety officials said additional information will be released as it becomes available. If an evacuation becomes necessary, affected residents and businesses will be notified immediately through official emergency notification systems.
