Cabarrus County awarded $357K grant to preserve 88 acres of farmland

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — A $357,000 grant could help preserve 88 acres of farmland in Cabarrus County.

The funding is part of a $51.2 million statewide grant from the North Carolina Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund.

The project is coordinated by the Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District, which partners with local landowners and funding agencies to protect active farmland from future development.

The preserved farmland supports diverse agricultural operations, including soybeans, corn, wheat, cattle pasture, hayfields and forestry.

Cabarrus is one of 44 counties in the state included in the grants.
