KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — A busy road in Kannapolis had to be closed early Wednesday morning after a tree came crashing down across it overnight.
Police shut down Trinity Church Road between Shoe Show and Northwest High School after the tree fell shortly before 2:30 a.m.
Officers told Channel 9 one passing car actually hit the tree while it was in the street.
Some utility lines were also down, taken off a nearby utility pole, but there were no power outages in the area.
Nobody was hurt.
Police were able to reopen the road around 7 a.m.
