CHARLOTTE — 39 people have died from the flu in North Carolina so far this season.
The state health department reported 12 more deaths in the last week.

Out of the 39, two are children between five and 17 years old.
South Carolina has recorded 16 flu-related deaths.
According to the CDC, the Carolinas are the two highest categories for flu activity.
