RALEIGH — Sherri Burch, of Maiden, took a chance on a $10 scratch-off ticket and won a $1 million prize, North Carolina Education Lottery officials stated in a news release.
Burch bought the $1 million Bankroll ticket from Countryside Food Mart on Salisbury Road in Statesville.
Burch had to choose between an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000. She chose the lump-sum.
After required state and federal tax withholdings, Burch took home $427,503.
