CAT’s Gold Line temporarily suspended for annual Fall rail maintenance

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Area Transit System has temporarily suspended Gold Line service beginning at Oct. 24 at 2 a.m. through Monday, Oct. 26 at 4 a.m., as part of its annual fall rail maintenance.

The Blue Line will continue to operate on its regular weekend schedule.

The shutdown is necessary to perform scheduled construction and maintenance work across the Gold Line alignment. The work requires full road closures between French Street and the I-77 overpass, as well as additional lane closures along the full length of the route.

Due to the road and lane closures along the route, CATS will not operate a bus bridge during the outage.

Transit officials noted that passengers traveling along the Gold Line corridor can instead access existing nearby CATS bus routes to reach their destinations.

Gold Line service is scheduled to resume regular operations at 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26.
